Van Morrison is releasing new tracks in response to the ongoing UK government lockdown restrictions.
Stand And Deliver, Born To Be Free, As I Walked Out, and No More Lockdown are songs of protest which question the measures the Government has put in place.
Morrison makes it clear in his new songs how unhappy he is with the way the Government has taken away personal freedoms.
Live music was banned completely when the lockdown was imposed.
The singer-songwriter, who is campaigning for performance venues to open at full capacity again, feels strongly that lockdown is in danger of killing live music.
Morrison says:
“I’m not telling people what to do or think, the government is doing a great job of that already. It’s about freedom of choice, I believe people should have the right to think for themselves.”
Stand and Deliver, written by Van Morrison and performed by Eric Clapton.
You let them put the fear on you
Stand and deliver
But not a word you heard was true
But if there’s nothing you can say
There may be nothing you can do
Do you wanna be a free man
Or do you wanna be a slave?
Do you wanna be a free man
Or do you wanna be a slave?
Do you wanna wear these chains
Until you’re lying in the grave?
I don’t wanna be a pauper
And I don’t wanna be a prince
I don’t wanna be a pauper
And I don’t wanna be a prince
I just wanna do my job
Playing the blues for friends
Magna Carta, Bill of Rights
The constitution, what’s it worth?
You know they’re gonna grind us down, ah
Until it really hurts
Is this a sovereign nation
Or just a police state?
You better look out, people
Before it gets too late
You wanna be your own driver
Or keep on flogging a dead horse?
You wanna be your own driver
Or keep on flogging a dead horse?
Do you wanna make it better
Or do you wanna make it worse?
Stand and deliver
You let them put the fear on you
Slow down the river
But not a word of it was true
If there’s nothing you can say
There may be nothing you can do
Stand and deliver
Stand and deliver

Born To Be Free was released on Friday September 25
Well, well the birds in the the trees
Know something we can’t see
‘Cos they know, we were born, to be free
Don’t need the government cramping my style
Give them an inch, they take a mile
Take you in with a phony smile, wouldn’t you agree
The new normal is not normal
It’s no kind of normal at all
Everyone seems to have amnesia
Just trying to remember the Berlin Wall
Some kind of new old ideology
With new psychology
But it’s not for the benefit
Of you and me
No no noThe new normal is not normal
It’s no kind of normal at all
Everyone seems to have amnesia
Trying to remember the Berlin WallS
ome kind of new old ideology
With new psychology
But it’s not for the benefit
Of you and me
‘Cos they know, we were born, to be free
‘Cos they know, we were born, to be free
‘Cos they know, we were born, to be free
As I Walked Out was released on Friday October 9
As I walked out all the streets were empty
The government said everyone should stay home
And they spread fear and loathing and no hope for the future
Not many did question this very strange move
Well, on the government website from the 21st March 2020
It said COVID-19 was no longer high risk
Then two days later they put us under lockdown
Then why are we not being told the truth?
By all the media outlets and thе government lackeys
Why is this not big nеws, why is it being ignored?
Why no checks and balances, why no second opinions?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
As I walked out all the streets were empty
The government said everyone should stay home
And they spread fear and loathing and no hope for the future
Not many did question this very strange move
But on the government website from the 21st March 2020
It said COVID-19 was no longer high risk
Then two days later Boris put us under lockdown
Why are we not being told the truth?
By all the media outlets and the government lackeys
Why is this not big news, why is it being ignored?
Why no checks and balances, why no second opinions?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
Why are they working, and why are we not?
No More Lockdown was released on Friday October 23
No more lockdown
No more government overreach
No more fascist police
Disturbing our peace
No more taking our freedom
And our God-given rights
Pretending it’s for our safety
When it’s really to enslave
Who’s running our country?
Who’s running our world?
Examine it closely
And watch it unfurl
No more lockdown
No more threats
No more Imperial College scientists makin’ up crooked facts
No more lockdown
No more pulling the wool over our eyes
No more celebrities tellin’ us
Tellin’ us what wе’re supposed to feel
No more status quo
Put your shouldеr to the wind
No more lockdown
No more lockdown
No more lockdown
No more lockdown
No more lockdown
No more government overreach
No more fascist police
Disturbing our peace
No more taking our freedom
And our God-given rights
Pretending…
